Well I went to San Antonio today and went to Harbor Freight and bought this http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=97869 for $139 w/coupon I printed online. I had originally ordered a smaller one from HF and they back ordered it so I think I made out pretty good on this deal. Can't wait to get back home (tomorrow) and get it set up. I'm going to build a Thein Lid to go with it and will probably end up venting it outside.

Joe find a bag that will filter out smaller than 5 micron particles those are the ones that get you, bad thing is the tighter bags are real expensive, or else mount the collector out side.

That's a real nice unit. I had originally wanted that one myself. (Just ran out of money at the time.) The 5 micron bag is available. I was just through my bookmarks and can't find the site I wanted. There is a gentlemen in NJ, that sells them really cheap. I'll look on my PC at work and see if it is on there.

Enjoy. That's a great unit...

Mark didn't you mean .5 micron?? those are really what's needed otherwise all the deadly sub-micron size dust and spores are getting circulated in your work environment.

Yes. Geez, I missed the decimal. My bad. ".5" Microns.

Thank you.

Disregard my last post. I believe what I found was replacement 5 micron bags, not .5 micron. Sorry.

Shoot a Mile, that is the cheapest I've seen. Too bad my account is flat at this moment or I'd spring for one. Give me about 6 months and watch out.

Ditto...

I just bought one of these about a month ago...put it together, hooked up some tubing, a Y joint, and some blast gates. Turned it on and sucked up some shavings from the floor...

Then turned it off after I realized the dust was terrible. I'll be looking for a finer bag and/or running it when the weather warms up and I can have the garage doors open allowing for a breeze to float through the shop!

Good luck!

I got the Thein Baffle built today and the DC put together, tomorrow I'll go to our local lumber yard and get some 4" pvc and hard plumb it in with blast gates to each tool (I have to build some collector Hoods? for each tool) Still debating if I will vent it outside. (probably). I'm anxious to try it out.

Joe,
That's a great price on that machine... I think mine was $169 when I bought it... it's a great machine. The noise was mentioned, I don't think they're overly noisy, but then mine is set up in an outside closet, outside my shop.... I hear a loud hum from it, but not much else....

I got that one for $139.00 on sale like two years ago. Its been $179.00 for the longest time. 2nd one is a charm, the first one went in a couple months...hope you got the service warranty, if I didnt, I'd still own the first one.

I fried a switch on mine after about 6 or 8 months... I thought the motor went out so I called HF and complained.... they sent me another motor. When I went to install it, I discovered that it was the switch, not the motor... so I now have a spare 2 hp electric motor.

It's run like a charm for the past 4 years.

Well I got it hard plumbed with 4" pvc and the Thein baffle and built a couple of collector hoods (boxes) and I really like it, my shop should stay a lot cleaner now.
