Hey there,
I was thinkin earlier that I never did introduce myself to you fine folks. Insted I just started throwing my $.02 around and askin a bunch of questions. I have already learned so much from this forum and I know there are some Creekers in here too, I recognize the work. I guess I should have come up with a cool name like y'all.....can I change that?

The skinny,
I am a 32 year old proud father of 3 beautiful girls ages 10, 4 & 2. They are all my pride and will some day be the death of me. I have been with my wife for 9.5 years married for 6 of them (anniversary just passed on the 24th)

Started turning about Easter of this year when I decided to make some tops for the kids Easter baskets. That was on my Shopsmith MarkV. It didnt take long before I ruined the bearings so I picked up a cheap 1960's toolkraft lathe. Its not the best nor truest lathe but it works for now and only cost $75.

I am a jack of all trades kind of guy. I want to fix it myself and 95% of the time I am successful. I dont borrow tools I buy them thus I have quite the collection of one time use tools. I wont sell them becasue then I will need them the next day. I have worked in many differnt trades, HVAC, Plumbing and Industrial Electrician and played a large part in the remodel of our last house (added 2k sq ft). These trades have helped me become what I am........a Network Engineer....how the hell did that happen? Well I got laid off from the plants as an electrician and went back to school to start over.

So that is it. I love my Wife, my children, my family, my guns and my God and I cling tight to them.

Thanks for reading.

Hey there,

Send me a PM with what you want and I can change it for you.

Welcome, btw! (even though you were rude and joined the party without even introducing yourself and have been here a few weeks anyway!)

Welcome Chris!

Don't worry about the three girls, you'll live, I did. We raised three also and now they've all given me grandchildren to play with.

Get that shopsmith fixed! When you've got one they're indispensable. Many years ago I replaced a bearing in my x-fil's and it wasn't all that hard. I bought one at a tool auction a couple of years ago. Don't know if anyone knew what it was or didn't care but it only cost me $100  Opened it up, cleaned and oiled it and it runs like new.
