You gotta go right through Lancaster's Amish population to get to Hershey... From about anywhere you start.

I think Lancaster is beautiful and a fascinating look at "another way of life". It is a real eye opener for kids....no TV, much less GameBoy, etc.

Take the tour of the chocolate factory. Interesting no end.

I'll second the statement to visit the Amish area of Lancaster county. The Amish homes don't have any electricity, or any modern appliances, but they do know how to cook!!!!

On your way you might want to stop at the Grizzly showroom in Muncy PA, (Williamsport). Try not to drool too much!:biggrin:

I was in the showroom once and heard a wife and husband talking, she said, "Oh, Get the bigger one, you know you want it!"

I just did a little exploring and found a BBQ place called Jakeys Armish BBQ. Thinking of trying it out Sunday. Next door have shoe fly pies yummmmm.

There's an Armish museum near by the hotel

Thanks

Richard

I was there once in the off-season time of the year. No theme park open at that time, but I have to say the hershey museum/tour was pretty cool. I really liked the pictures/etc of all the early years of hershey.

Richard no matter what you do, relax, stay cool and have fun. It is vacation or as they say in Europe, Holiday. I enjoy the Amish culture and do a lot of business with them in our hardware store, but that is not for everyone. One of the things we like the most when we visit an Amish family we have know for years, is the phone does not ring.
I have found the Amish prepared food is usually quite good.

Another good place to eat is Millers Smorgasboard. Just about everything you can think of to eat. We were there acouple years ago heres the website

The farm produce sales are starting now.
My neighbor goes to a farm implemant sale everyweek there and buys tractors to fix and sell. Auctions everyday of the week for things.
Just really nice country to see.
Hope you have fun.

I stayed there while working at Three Mile Island which is only a couple miles away. HersheyPark is a nice amusement park. Very clean and friendly atmosphere.

Well the kids spent all day in the water park. They're pretty spent after a full day in the sun. It is very pretty country corn everywhere, horse drawn carraiges are cool too.

The Renaissance Festival is a cool spot to hang out. Minor league baseball is big in the area if that is your thing - Reading and Scranton/Wilkes Barre have 2 Phillies affiliates. Harrisburgh use to have the Expos/Nationals farm team but I don't know if they are still there.

All I remember is the wonderful smell of driving through Hersey.

I agree with you!

Once, we were traveling from Myrtle Beach to St-Eustache Qc, and my GPS gave my by mistake a wrong way... But we had by this mistake the opportunity to discover Hershey. It is a wonderfull city
