Hope it is appropriate to show here.

This took 2 weeks to design and almost 4 months to build.

The drawers are ...

dovetails and faceplates. (see pic)

Sliding dovetails for most frame support with faces.

Yes, oak with walnut inlays in top and side. Poplar used in drawers.

With drawers out and empty..

it weighs 116 pounds..

I did put levelers with sliding pads so there is a wee bit of flexibility.

(Levelers because wood frame houses these days don't seem to have level floors.)

Stain ...

Brian..

I used General Finishes, American Walnut. The way I made the choice was to talk to my daugther about the possible colors. Then finish two pieces of wood using diffenerent stains that were the result of the conversation.

Just two different stains... If I given three or more I would never have gotten a decision.

Also, I finished as I completed parts. I don't like to fight with finishing corners and edges on completed projects. I don't do well. Especially when I use raised panels drawer fronts.

Hope this helps.

Fantastic dresser! Like the design and the build. It will be a family heirloom for sure. It has great quality, will last for many years for daughter to enjoy.
