HempWood Pentel Pencil

It's been a while since I posted a turning project that wasn't segmented. Today's project was a Pentel pencil crafted from unstabilized HempWood. This was quite a challenge because there are no tubes, and the material gets very thin, down to about 1/16". Another tricky part was drilling a 5/16" hole down the center of a 5/8" x 5/8" x 4.5" blank without causing any blowouts. I did use some thin CA glue to help reinforce it. I hope you enjoy it!

Very attractive Dale. Never got to Hempwood, but I admire the grain patterns. For yours, the custom elements are especially nice. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice! That blank looks like it was challenging as the fibers are all over the place, but it sure looks great like that.
