I found a few pieces of this wood in a box of unlabeled random wood. Anyone have a clue? When drilling, it had a familiar smell. Maybe cocobolo?

Mark's suggestions would also be mine.

Altho' I am inclined to lean towards desert ironwood based on the prominent grain pattern and the two shades of color.

Cocobolo, in my experience, is overall darker and more uniform in color with less prominence of the grain.

Could easily be tigerwood; I have some sitting in my shop which looks like this.
Here's a pic from Advantage:

If it stinks when you turn, it would suggest Ironwood.
There are many other Woods it could be such as madrone, acacia, Texas ebony.
Best to categorize it as "looks like" rather than is.
