I bought this table at Marshalls (overstock outlet store) today for $30. It says "made in India" and I thought it looks like a rosewood or cocobolo but dont know anything about wood in India. I figure I can cut about 50 to 60 3/4" blanks out of it and it has some nice character. Any help appreciated!

I was looking for an excuse to get to the shop so I cut the top into 28 blanks. Here's what some of the nicer ones look like. The last 2 are rubbed with linseed oil to bring out the color. I think it just made them darker. It doesnt seem to have the strong smell like cocobolo nor the oil but the light sap wood resembles it.

Thanks,I was thinking rosewood. It looks somewhat like the rosewood I have but my other stock doesnt have burl or sap wood so I thought I would check here. Thanks

John, I don't care what kind of wood it is, anybody who buys a piece of furniture with the sole idea of cutting it up for pen blanks is a-okay in my book! Well done, man! hehe :D

Looks like rosewood to me!
