I keep my Ren wax right next to my photo booth. After assembling, I Windex off my mirror/plexi/whatever setup in the booth to get rid of the dust that falls on there by the minute, I wash up a little to get rid of anything that might scratch the finish, wipe a coat of Ren wax over the whole pen, hardware and all, and immediately buff it off again. By the time I get done wiping it on, I start buffing at the place I started applying, and by the time I've followed my 'trail', it's all had the 15 seconds or whatever to haze over a little. At this point, I'm handling the pen with kid gloves and the cloth I used to buff it with.
I then place it for photos, lightly blow off the dust and crap that has accumulated on the mirror in the two minutes it took me to wax the darn thing. Click click click, and then to the computer for editing photos as needed. I then head back to the shop to start the next project, following the same steps above. In the meantime, the light heat from my photo booth lights has helped to solidify the Ren, and I move the original pen to the holding area - basically, the pile on the table that I need to get put in boxes and get listed on the website for sale.
Ren wax is amazing, but I don't use it so much as a finishing step. To me, it's more the first step in the maintenance process of the pen.
I really like the kits that someone was selling on here - basically a soft cloth and a little tiny thing of Ren wax to include with the pen as a 'care and feeding' package. That's a great idea to add value to a sale, I just haven't gotten around to building/buying any of those kits.
Hope this helps!
