I have a nice piece of Benge Lumber. It is 2" by 10" by 21 1/2". It is planed and is in nice shape. I might list it here but can't unless I have a price. Any suggestions? Thanks
That list keeps growing and growing. I understand Yellowheart is now on that list too. Pretty soon you can not use any exotics. These are some of the worlds prettiest woods.Bubinga is on CITES, in Appendix II.
It really annoyes me, that they made this sweeping restriction, but after reading this article, from the Wood Database, I have a little understanding.
Are Rosewoods (and Bubinga) really banned by CITES? | The Wood Database

No, the reason they are on the list is because of the foresting of these woods and the treatment. China is a huge importer of rosewoods because that has been adopted for their culture. When there is a demand there is the $$$ to be made in a manner that gets the poachers money in their pockets. Same thing goes for ivory and other animal parts. The rain forests are being decimated. Something had to be done and woodworkers are seeing this have a huge effect. I do not see a turn around. It is ashame that young woodworkers may never get to experience such beautiful woods. And that is just the reason they are on the list!
