Has anyone tried the Penn State clips (Deer Head or the Scoped Rifle) on any other suppliers Cartridge pen??

I did call Penn State and they replied that they thought they gave a good variety, which they did but as does Penn State with other kits they make a slight variation in the size so that only Penn State parts work with Penn State kits.

I have an order that the customer is attached to the full catridge bottom and full blank top, in a twist pen. He does not care for the old style rifle clip supplied with let's say the Woodcraft catridge twist pen.

He does like the stock clip on the Penn State pens.

What experiences do you have with mixing and matching parts on the cartridge pens from different suppliers??

Thanks in advance:handshake:

What I need to end up with on this order

This is what I need to end up with on this order.

1 twist w a rifle scope clip
4 twist with the stock Penn State clip.

Again he is asking for the full cartidge style and not the split style Penn State offers.

The age old problem of trying to fullfill the customers need and HOPEFULLY being able to do it. I just don't like telling them that they cannot get what they want...............But sometime that's just how it works out.

:confused: Pat; As long as the tube sizes are the same, you should be able to make the clip fit. Some companys clips will only fit 7mm tubes, and there is not enough meat on them to enlarge them. Plus you would have to recess the clip because of the smaller I.D. You could also hide the clip. This would involve cutting the clip open and reshaping it, so the size wouldn't matter to begin with. Check out the library on how to do this. Wood-N-Whimsies makes their own clips, check there, but watch the tube sizes they fit, as most are 7mm. Jim S

Pat,
Give me a call. Not sure exactly what you are asking.

I could show you better than explain it over the phone. I have to take a chainsaw back to Tunney's today. If you are available around 430ish I could call you and stop by. Let me know.

His question doesn't seem to be that complicated.

He has a customer who wants a bullet twist pen with a PSI clip, but doesn't care for PSI's 'split cartridge' kit. He want's the standard look like CSUSA's Artisan Bullet Pen.

His question is simply if PSI's clips will work with other sellers' fake bullet twist kits.

OK. PSI kit parts fit PSI kits only. Discussed this with PSI and they state that they feel they put out a good variety. ANd end result is I guess they do.I could have satisfied my customer with a Magnum Kit (he would have had the clip he wanted with the full cartridge) but he didn't like the idea of 10% more size.......oh well........maybe next time.

Tried a standard black stripe clip on the Woodcraft kit and it doesn't work either. Necessary to modify the gap where the clip rests. End result is the clip is too loose after you press it together and it doesn't stand off at the top of the pen. Looks cheezy!

SO, for me trying to mix and marry parts on cartridge pens didn't work.

The clip on the pen in the pictures is from a PSI kit: Trimline PKXMCH.
The clip ring fit nicely in the recess. I choose to widen the slot to accept the clip instead of modifying the clip itself. Widening the slot took about very little time...less than 5 minutes. The pen kit used is the Berea kit with the fake shell replaced with a real 280 Rem shell case and a real bullet. I don't like the rifle clips or any other theme clips.
Do a good turn daily!

I did try modifying the slot on the one pen. Clip was still loose. I kinda like a more traditional clip myself and so does my customer. I like your tip Don. Might give this one a go. THanks for the tip!:bananen_smilies022:

If the clip ring fit inside its recess and it the clip fit inside the slot and the clip is loose then maybe the two pieces of the finial are not pressed together tight enough. Or, the clip ring was too small for its recess.
