help with blanks

Ive gotten pretty good at turning blanks, and I want to put some aluminum bands or celtic knots, ect, on my next pen. Do you use CA to glue the different materials together? also, whats the secret to drilling the dead center when you have celtic knot in the wood? Are there any tutorials for this kind of work anywhere?

I usually use CA. Also, here's a good video on doing a celctic knot. Don't remember who showed me this, but I thought it was a good example.
