We just finally bought a house. I'm hoping for some ideas on something. We have an outside metal access panel for fireplace log storage. It's just thin gavalnized metal but it is missing the handle. The lid just sets down over another metal lip. I'm at a loss of what type of handle may have been on it and how to make or buy another one. Not sure how it would secure the cover to the lip. I'm thinking maybe it had some sort of spring loaded locking handle? Does anyone have any ideas? Here's a pic of what I'm working with. Thanks, Bobby.

My first guess just looking ot the pictures is that the handle 🤔 propbably rivetted on.
I dont now what the two smaller holes were for in the lip of the base

Ya, the holes puzzle me also for a handle. I may just mount a strap to the top door and put a hook in the brick and just strap it down. Might be the easiest way. Btw, the bottom lip actually lines up with the holes in the lid. It's not flat, it's vertical with the top lip.
