Hi, a customer has asked me to recreate a pen that his wife loves and that broke. It looks like a custom build with a section turned from ebonite or black acrylic and then a chrome plated cone on the end to hold the pen. I was thinking I'd use the very end of a gent section for the chrome cone. Does anyone know what the thread size is that I should use to tap the black piece so that it will accept the little cone from the gent kit?

OK, measured on a similar Jr Gent kit using accurate calipers and a thread pitch gauge similar to that referenced above .....

I make the threads to be ..... M7 x 0.75

The fit on my own die of that size is very good so I have no doubt about this being the correct sizing.

Ignore my post above .... the kit that I have looks the same as what you show in your pic above.

Thanks Mal. I've got that one, I think! I'll give it try and let you all know how it turns out

Get the thread pitch gauge to be sure. You'll get more use out of it later. Good taps and dies aren't cheap.
