I have actually gotten a few "thank-you" notes from "newbies" who have watched the 8 part "how-to" series of videos that are available here on IAP.

In doing these vids, I have had to learn a fair amount about video editing--it was "painful" for an old brain. HOWEVER, the only way to retain the information is to use it, occasionally!! So, I am "on the lookout" for subjects that you (Joe penmaker) would like more information about.

Please add your ideas for a video or videos---

And for those who wrote to me----THANK YOU!! It's good to know they are being used and helping someone!!!

I was given a number of 50cal spent cases, was thinking of using a twist type pen mech 7mm/8mm I guess this would also cover making a pen out of anything hollow. It might be considered advanced pen making. But the educational insight for us new pen makers about the process might probably help in the making of the regular kits?

Please do realize that while a lot of us often over look saying thank you,we do really enjoy and appreciate your work and contrbutions.That goes for the rest of the great folks on here ,too.I'm not that good at turning,to give much input.But I can say thanks ocasionally.We certianly have a lot of folks on here that deserve and need to hear it.Everybody,please keep up the good work.Thanks again.I may sound a little rediculuse(spelling) But we cann't make up for the times we don't say it.
 
I'm just glad to see someone spell 'newbie' correctly ;) Damn kids changed it to 'noob' these days.. drives me crazy.
 
But 'noob' sounds like one of my favorite things! :eek::biggrin::eek:

On a serious note, I would also like to see a video about a making a casing pen. I know that there are tutorials available, but sometimes a video really clarifies exactly what happens when.

Ed. You mentioned you were going to do an "Assembly" video, that would be great but is it worth one about "Disassembly" for the bugger-ups that we all do. Except me of course because I haven't made one yet!!

I am still kind of a "newbie" at this also. I would like to start making kitless pens. This might be a differant subject, but I am confused on how to get the ink to work on a one piece twist pen. I think I read a tutorial on gluing one tube and not the other. Seeing a video that I can pause and rewind to catch all the steps.. Thanks Ed for all the other videos..
 
This wouldn't be a demo as such, but I would like to hear something about the various types of acrylic blanks and what makes them different. For instance, how is Italian Lucite different from Acrylic Acetate? One is more expensive, but is it better? Do they all finish about the same? Maybe a discussion of various methods people have of finishing, and perhaps a comparative look at the final product. Just some ideas.
 
As I understand it Newbie and Noob both sound alike.
I would also like ot add my thanks to Ed for his contributions!!
How about a video on types of and using a skew!
 
I can't say that I have seen all of your videos but have watched most of them. If I mention something you have covered then please forgive me. Here are some topics that I see questions about on this forum:

1. Painting the tubes and inside blanks. What paint to use, how different colors affect it, to tint or not tint the glue, etc.
2. Segmenting. Not everyone does this so probably more of an advance topic. Maybe make videos of make the segmented pen from the pen turners bible. :)
3. Pen dis-assembly. How do I take the thing apart?
4. Custom finial. Probably considered an advance topic though.
5. Decals.
6. Maybe show how to cast? Or make the stamp pens?

Hope that gives some ideas.
