Hi all. Bryan from Cranky Nerd Customs here.

A bit about me: I've spent most of my adult in a wide variety of jobs from bar manager to comm tower programming to data science. Most recently I spent 17 years at a Fortune 500 as a finance business intelligence manager. A little less than a year ago I decided corporate life had my very soul on life support, so I left to focus on project work. That led me to prop building and 3D modeling as well as wood work and, most recently, pen and small project turning.

I'm still only a few months in to turning but I find the work and the end result of what I've created to be very cathartic and therapeutic. So I'm hoping to keep it up and learn as much as I can.

Welcome from Cape Cod
What wood is the lighter bowl? Looks like something I've been turning lately but was not made aware of what species it is.
Very nice work

I'm not exactly sure what it is to be honest. I'll have to look back at some old purchase orders.

Welcome to IAP from Medina (just south of Cleveland). I fully agree with your sentiments on the therapeutic possibilities of turning, as well as other hands-on activities. I love what this hobby has presented me with, as well as the fellowship of IAP. I went to the first IAP Chapter meeting in Cincinnati - an excellent start on another in-person gathering. It is really nice to meet new friends as well as some 'weathered' ones 🤣 .

And, you displayed some excellent turnings - well done!
