We ll what can I say? I am new to the hobby of pen turning .I have used a lathe many times though but never to make a pen .I was just given a 1947 Craftsman 103-23070 wood lathe that was in our familys barn in Kansas my plan is to rebuild it and repaint and stat using it!

Hello and welcome to IAP from Central Texas. That is a nice little lathe but I think it has a MT1 taper. That may be a problem later on. Others will chime in about that.

I was just on another forum with a gentleman with an old Craftsman lathe with a MT1 taper. He bought a buffing system that comes in MT2 and was trying to find an adapter with no luck.

I found an adapter on ebay that has a Morse #1 shank to a Morse #2 socket so hopefuly that will work!
