Hi everyone. I've only been turning for about a year so I'm primarily here to learn. So far my favourite material to turn is antler. Looking forward to being part of the community.

Kip Christiansen , who I was privileged to see in action. here some years back , warned us all to take great care turning antler as the dust could be very hazardous. Not too sure form memory of the hazards but, thinking about it , as a substance we all contain it may well be ideal bug breeding grounds. I certainly wouldn't want to inhale it, having. seen the things that grown on the bones my dog buried!

Glad you liked the big city when you visited.

Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't aware of that. I always wear a half face respirator with 3M particulate filters P100 when I'm working in my shop. Any safety experts out there that would be able to tell me if what I'm using is sufficient?
