Hi everyone. Looking forward to "meeting" folks and learning a lot!
Retired from 30 years in IT, now I work part time at a hardware store. I've been learning basic turning from a much more experienced guy, and I have discovered how much fun it is to transform a chunk of wood into a pretty pen. I have a basic setup, an Excelsior mini lathe, carbide Rockler tool set, and bench top sander, drill press and band saw. So far all of my pens have been given as gifts or kept at home. Maybe I will try selling some once I am satisfied with the quality.
Another thing I look forward to is experimenting with some uncommon woods for materials, segmenting, and acrylics or mixed materials. Just reading thru the forums, I've already picked up some interesting tidbits.
Here are a couple of the ones I like best, so far.
