Hi folks! My name is John and I am addicted to pen turning :)

I started in March this year and what began as "I'll give it a try" is all I want to do now. I've been fortunate enough to have some nice early success including an exclusive line made available through the Philadelphia Independence Seaport Museum, but I'm really looking to push myself to constantly improve.

I'm interested to get started with some kit modifications in the coming weeks. Looking forward to being part of a great community!

Welcome John, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Welcome from an Ex New Jerseyan. Left Passaic County 40 years ago and came to the promised land of Texas.

Ask any questions and you WILL get answers, some of them conflictory but for every 10 turners there are 30 answers.

The Library here is a great resource.
