Greetings from MN.
I have been working with wood on and off since I can remember. The first project I remember was a set of bookshelves that I helped my father with. They flanked our fireplace and were connected with a mantel. I always wanted to get into turning wood, and I finally bought a lathe a year ago.
My "real job" is in information security. I would love to be able to make this my retirement program in a few years. It is much more relaxing
. I have have moderate success making more than 60 pens over the last year and selling several online. But I am not able to make a reasonable margin on my work, and I'm still am not happy with fit and finish, especially when I don't take my time. I want to take that next step so that when I create a pen, it is my work of art, and truly a writing instrument rather than a novelty. I'm hoping to learn more about the craft (and patience) by reading, sharing, and trying new ideas.
I have a Shopify website I set up last month - I have yet to get a sale on that. I also have an Etsy site and an Ebay store. I have sold product on both of those channels.
