A heart tearing day for us today. We released Ginger's spirit from her pain wracked body. She suffered night and day, but did it in grace. Her back legs had grown almost useless as she neared her 14th birthday. She was only getting up on her own after a lot of rest, otherwise I had to lift her. She was one of a kind. She got so good with english, we had to spell in front of her. Then she started to understand the spelling. When she looked at me to see if we were going to do something, I could talk to her and give her options. She understood all what I said and would choose the activity she wanted on her own. She was always grateful for any care we gave her, even something as simple as fresh water. She would give a single lick, just to say thank you. As her final thank you, she gave Dr. Kevin Taylor a lick on the hand as he administered the shot. That dog was special. We rescued her from PAWS and I thought we did her a favor. Found out, we got equal benefit, maybe even more. She was running in her dreams last evening, so happy to see that. God's speed pup, thanks for your love!

Sorry, Rich! You're a better man than I. Our last pet had to be taken in by my wife. I couldn't do it. It has gotten more difficult for me as I have stacked on the years of longevity. Perhaps the realization that we too are closer to those portals. Even when we know it IS best for them, it still isn't easy. Attached is my "play" from last week. Rest in peace, Ginger!

Sorry for the loss of your friend and companion. Our pets become so much of our family and lives that it hurts terribly to lose them. Wish they could live the same life span that we do. Again so sorry for our loss.

Heavenly Father, Creator of all things, thank you for having entrusted them with a loyal pet. Thank you for letting Ginger teach them unselfish love. Thank you for the memories that they can recall to brighten their days for the rest of their lives. Finally, in gratitude, we return Ginger back to you.

Amen.

Sorry for your loss Rich.
Your life has been enriched, and your heart has been taken over by her.
Her illness and discomfort are now over, and she will continue to live in your heart and memory forever.

Sorry for your loss,
they certainly do become
a member of the family..
She is pain free and playing with
others as we speak..
I know how difficult
it is to do such a thing,
however, you did the right thing

God Bless

As my "Boyz" approach that age, I can see it coming. That made this thread really hit home. I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. I clearly understand how much a part of your life she was.
