Heard a crash at midnight...

Woke up to this scene this morning. It's an oak I had been watching and was planning to cut it down this fall due to heart rot. I guess it decided to jump the gun. It was a quiet, still night with no storm or wind. We'll see how the kids take to their new tree house. I'm just glad it didn't happen midday when they are all over that thing. More time off from turning

That looks pretty nasty! As you (and others) have said - Thank God the kids weren't inside playing. You can rebuild their tree house and I'm sure they will be happy with that when you are done.

Seriously, glad to know everyone is safe and sound. Broken things can be repaired, replaced or rebuilt, people on the other hand, can not. You were very lucky, thank the Lord.

Glad the kids are okay. If they are old enough they can help you and feel good about working on their house. They can add some personal touches. Good project to work on together.
