I have a lathe with a 3/4 x 16TPI headstock and found a chuck that I want to buy, but it is 3/4 x 10TPI. Will this chuck work with my lathe? Or is there an attachment to make it work? All ideas are appreciated.

It won't work as is. The threads won't screw together..at least not very far :)
You can probably find an adapter, or have one made, but most custom made
ones won't be cheap. Try a google search for "thread adapters".
 
Are you sure about that size ? The common sizes are 3/4"X16 , 1"X10 and 1 1/4"X10 . 3/4" X10 is not a common size and I've never seen any adapters of that size . A 10tpi thread will not fit a 16 tpi thread .

I just checked PSI and they have a spindle adapter http://www.pennstateind.com/store/LA341018.html It's funny but I've never noticed that TPI on any lathe or chuck but I guess since I was never looking for one ....

There are spindle adapters on the market - but that is not a common size so it may be a custom order. Any competent machine shop can produce the adapter. The cost will likely be close to or higher than just purchase of a similar new chuck that fits the 3/4 by 16 thread. Penn State Industries sells several chucks that fit 3/4 by 16 threads.

(the 16 thread per inch is a National Fine thread and the 10 per inch is a National Coarse threading. Most all the midi lathes for the last decade or so have been 1 inch by 8 threads per inch).
 
That chuck is not a scroll chuck. In other words, it is not self centering. The 4 jaws all move independently. I don't think that chuck is what you want.

I haven't heard of this chuck thread. Not standard as we know.

Interesting point is 3/4" X 10 TPI is used on the ONEWAY and POWERMATIC Live Centers. Adapters are available for the 3/4" X 10 TPI to whatever chuck you have. This allows chuck mounting without removing bowl from face plate... You use a face plate on the "inside" and finish the "outside", make a tenon and mount chuck to live center, attach to bowl and remove face plate. Remains concentric this way.

That is a typo in the HF ad. The chuck is 3/4 -16 made to fit their benchtop wood lathes. The independent four jaw is infinitely more accurate than a 3 or 4 jaw scroll chuck, but like Butch said it will be a PITA to center for the purpose you want. I suggest you get a three jaw chuck for the Taig lathe. They are relatively inexpensive and very well made. Although I have both a larger metalworking lathe and mill, I have both a Taig micro lathe and micro mill and would not give up either. You can search on ebay for the chuck or contact: http://www.taigtools.com/ or http://www.cartertools.com/ . The guys at Taig are great to deal with and you can't go wrong with Nick Carter.
 
I've got and old KFF lathe. Korean, sold to Builder's Square long ago. The headstock is 3/4" x 10. PSI saved me with their adapters.
