last night I put my new steb-center in the headstock and a new live center in the tailstock and brought them up together to check alignment.

they are off a smidge.

I check my manual and there are no directions for alignment. Puzzling?

it's a Jet 1236

suggestions?

thanks

I had that problem with my Rikon.I loosened the Allen screws that hold the headstock to the bed of the lathe. There was just enough side to side movement to adjust the horizontal alignment on it.After adjusting the headstock I put loctite thread lock on the screws and tightened them down.I no longer have any alignment issues.

If its under warranty I would have it exchanged.
Loosening the allen screws is a pain in the neck: there are 2 axis that you have to align, and even assuming that the high is correct, and only the side to side needs adjustment, without special tools it's almost guess work. Although I do seem to remember that littlemachineshop sells a bar with a morse taper on each side, that would help in this case.

I doubt it's still in warranty. I bought it used almost 4 years ago.

I'll check LMS, I was going to order something from anyway.
