Having name put on pen

I made my daughter a Lazerlinez pharmacist pen. She loved it , but within months it disappeared from her work. I want to make another for her and have her name on it. I have no clue what is the best way to do this! I was thinking decal, or engraving but haven't the ability to do either. Suggestions?

At one time Constant at Lazerlinez would do one on engraving. I don't know if he still does.
Good time to learn decals. It should be pretty easy on that blank. Plenty of info here on the forum.

Lots of people doing laser engraving. Should not be a problem finding someone near by. Trophy stores are usually equipped for not-to-complex work like a name.

I take mine to the Trophy House here. They typically charge $10.00 per line at 20 characters per line. After multiple visits, they now only charge $7.00

In my opinion, the extra personal touch is worth the $10.00
Also, as a side note, most of my pens had a CA finish. I cannot recall who the member was that, told me to fill the engraving with Rub-n-Buff you can get at the craft store. They have silver, Gold, white and black....maybe some other colors. Hope this helps.

I made some college pens that were maroon acrylic with a white cloth cap. When I had their names laser engraved on the acrylic the engraving naturally turned white. There wasn't a need to try to fill the lettering. Like Chuck said it really make the pens pop.

O course, they are close, about 25 min. away, but I would use them if they weren't. I do my own fill work but they offer that service too.

I had one of my blind turners want to put a name on his ebony pen. I engraved it with the laser engraver and filled it with silver rub n buff. Worked great. On light colored woods you don't need to fill, but on dark woods the engraving doesn't show up unless you fill it.

Thanks Sharon, for that bit of information. Just getting back into pens and looking for a possible investment in the low end engraver, this is helpful info. It will probably be early spring before I take that step.
