Hello IAPers,

Nobody's probably noticed 'cuz I haven't been around here that long but I haven't been very active in the forums much lately even though I have greatly enjoyed them in the past.

Over Christmas we were away for two weeks and I didn't bring a computer so that I could totally escape. Shortly after returning, the company that I have worked for for nearly 32 years decided that my position was being "eliminated". Turns out that they got rid of me and one other person and hired 14 twenty-somethings in India!

For the last six weeks I haven't had much motivation to do much other than work (I'm being "transitioned" over 6 months -- I guess it takes that long to pass on 32 years of experience to 20 year-olds). If it weren't for the fact that I walk through it to get to the garage, I wouldn't have stepped foot in the workshop -- I didn't touch any of the tools! And I hadn't really looked at IAP during that time.

But then, one day a couple of weeks ago, I just happened to log in and saw that there was a trivia contest and that day's question was something I had seen before. I posted an answer, logged off, and promptly forgot about it. A couple of days later, I just happened to decide to log in again and the top message was the results for the day I entered. Just curious to see who won (because "I never do") I opened the message and to my shock, there was my name! I won an amazing BOB from Brian G and when I received it, the new blanks gave me the motivation to spin up the lathe again! Thank you to Brian and the rest of IAP for that!!!

I probably still won't be very active for a while but motivation is starting to come back.

Thanks for listening!

Welcome back, Dirk - and congratulations on winning a trvia prize.

Be sure to give the puzzles a try too - Maybe they will provide some motivation also.

Hang in there on the job front. I am a firm believer that competent & qualified people can always find a good job fit - perhaps even better than the situation you had before.

Hey Dirk............ If Feb. in the IAP doesn't pick you up then I don't know what will.

I use to go through that winter depression all the time. Working all summer/fall
.......kiliing myself with spring work..... and sitting all winter.

THEN came the IAP into my life and things now happen so fast I hardly notice it is winter. Except when the wife give me the 'cold shoulder'......lol

I will say a prayer for you and hopefully you will get back into checking into the site on a daily time. You miss so much in just a few hours it take time to catch up.

Welcome back, Dirk !!! . Good to see you ... take your time and ease yourself back into it.

Welcome back Dirk! Someone once told me that when God closes a door he opens a window. Your next opportunity may be just around the corner.
