I purchased several pieces of Colorwood and just now decided to turn a few pieces for sales items. I used CA to stabilize the grain as it was very soft and tore easily while turning.

The CA appears to have caused the color to run between layers. I used a blue/yellow layered piece and the blue ran into the yellow.

Anyone used this product with success in keeping the colors from running? Anyone have thoughts on how to finish it properly?

I have made pens, bottle stoppers and a shaving set with it.

I did not have a tearout problem. ( Could this be tool sharpnes?).

For the reason above I did not need to stabilize.

I finished yhe pens with CA and tge volirs did not run.

I finished everything else with ShellaWax. Again no runs.

Hope this Helps.
