I hollowed out a pool noodle and epoxied a washer and magnet in the bottom. Sleeve slides over the revolving tail stock.

This post is VERY relevant to me. Just YESTERDAY I cut the back of my hand (maybe the 10th time) while reaching for my drill chuck and after a few choice words I decided to do something about it.
I turned a piece of Delrin to act as a bushing, now my live center can no longer "hurt me!"

I did once also, but quickly learned to move the TS waaay back out of the way.... I leave enough blood in my shop, so I do try to eliminate all that I can.

My Mandrel Saver lives in my tailstock. All of the pointy things are safely tucked away in plastic boxes (well, plastic boxes that I put handles on to make drawers out of). I'm sure it is not as handy as having them so accessible.

Tellico, my lathe is a short Rikon model. I could tell SWMBO that I need a longer lathe to keep from hitting the live center.
