i have to fight for shop time now and i've got some serious competition on my hands. my son turned his third pen today. this one is a baron roller ball in Bethlehem olive wood. he wanted to make this for our priest that is retiring at the end of the month. he is an alter server so this has a lot of meaning for him. he wanted to do a slimline because thats where his comfort level was but i talked him into something a little nicer. its finished with wax. not bad eh.

he said he learned from the best, then explained to me that meant me. (thats the aspie coming out)

That is what you get for just buying one lathe:biggrin:.

Great job on that pen.:good: I am sure the Priest will treasure it.

If that's the result of losing the fight for shop time, you haven't lost a thing. Now, get down there while he's sleeping, or he'll soon be show you what to do. :-)

The kids around here just want the finished stuff. Your lucky that yours wants to make the finished stuff!

The pen has a great shape, not too round and not too straight.....kind of like the story about the three bears! Congrats!!!

From one alter boy to another.........Great pen. Keep up the work.
I agree that the right way to go is to move up to another lather. However, getting one more his size might also be an opition.

Christmas is comming.
Enjoy the time with him........they grow so fast.
