Has anybody ever tried...

...to stabilize wood using lacquer? If so,what was the outcome?

Yes I have tried it with regular nitrocellulose lacquer as well as pre catalyzed lacquer. I tried striaght and thinned. I also tried vacuum, pressure, and nothing. I was not at all impressed with any of them.
