Hart Double Twist mechanism

Hello everyone, my first post here!
I have several Hart Double Twist kits, the mechanism will not press into the tube, is slides right out. I was at Woodcraft today complaining about it. The salesman checked several kits and they all did the same thing, he said they are supposed to be that way, but I don't agree the top portion comes right off. I made two pens that worked fine, am I missing something? Does anyone have a fix? Thanks everyone.

I believe on the hart double twist that the finial clip bushing is what actually presses into the twist mechanism when the 2 are pressed into the tube. Did you press in the finial clip bushing first??

What do you mean by clip bushing, the other end of the blank, where the clip screws in? The top of the pen.

Ah ok no I was just testing the tubes but I thought the twist mechanism had to be pressed in?
