Does anyone here do gun grips out of wood? I am looking to build a set for a guy and was wondering how if at all you are putting the pattern on the wood to enhance the look and grip of the firearm. Any help would be great thanks.

Do you plan on hand checkering the grips? That's an art in itself.

There are almost as many ideas on that as there are gun grips. Do what the customer wants or what you think he will like. Checkering, inlays, engraving, silver/gold wire inlay, whatever. The possibilities are endless.

I've done a few grips. Smooth is easy, stippling a bit harder to do and still look nice. I haven't gotten good enough at checkering to let anything out of the shop. It also depends on what the major use of the gun is. Target grips are a completely different thing from carry grips.
