Groove Click Question

I was helping a customer with a refill for a groove click and noticed the refill would just barely come out the end of the pen when clicked. I checked the refill length and the pen body next to another groove click and everything is the same. I know when I sold the pen it was working fine. Any idea what could have happened inside the pen that would cause the refill to not extend the whole way?

Turn the spring around, sometimes when putting in refill spring is wrong way.

i have seen the pen, but i don not know if there is more than one type of Schmidt mechanisms. my Schmidt mechanisms and parts are threaded. sometimes the threads loosen on the mechanisms and or kit and lengthen the pen. 9 of 10 times, i just have to make sure the parts are screwed all the way down/seated properly.
