I have the 2hp version. It's a nice lathe for the money. The only issue that I've had with it is the handwheel on the tailstock is made of a soft cast metal and will wear quickly. I've solved tis by replacing the set-screw with one I made from Delrin, not an issue since.
She has plenty of power, and is plenty heavy. Only downside is the lowest speed (700rpm) is too fast for big, unbalanced pieces or for threading by hand. For smaller unbalanced bowls and larger fairly balanced pieces, she's fine.
