Theses are my latest. The first 2 photos are of a silver slimline dressed in a bowling ball blank that smells like grape. I sanded the blank to 12000 mm and polished with Hut Plastic Polish the next 4 are of a gold cigar dressed in Red Cedar I sanded from 320 grit to 12000 mm and finished with 4 coats of Pens Plus. I made the grape pen to Evelyn. All C & C, thanks for looking.

Dan, I love the shape of that slimline. It is just as it should be. :)
Nice colour too. I have only made 1 or 2 pens with bowling ball blanks and the one type I have has faded completely. Maybe it doesn't have any UV inhibitors I guess.

A bowling ball is coated with a clear coat of UV protectant after it's made .... turning it will, of course, remove that clear layer of protection.

Of course, I'm probably out of date concerning such things .... modern bowling balls may very well have proper UV protection throughout the color layer, but this situation is the most likely cause for your fading, Skip. :)

Oddly enough I like the grape one, maybe it's because it smells like grape. Seriously though, they both are very nice.
