Grain Alignment A Must..

On this one. Purple Heart and canary wood with a blue stone powder inlay. Inlay doesn't look blue at all, though, CA, made it look purple, still looks nice.

Really nice. It's no doubt a challenge to have the threads line line up the grain that precisely.

Superb grain alignment on that one ! Not easy to find a piece that will allow it when a half inch has to be sacrificed for the threads .

Ken, that is beautiful. I was wondering on the alignment if once you have both parts made, if one could sand down the bottom part incrementally so you can further tighten the lid, thereby allowing you to line up the segments?

You just take a little off at a time with the lathe tool of your choice until the grain aligns.
