According to this, I dropped the package at the post office, and it made it out of the city, hours before I ever printed a shipping label. I do get a kick out of USPS tracking sometimes.
Gotta love USPS "tracking".

That is not good!

Yeah. I was afraid of that. We'll see what it says tomorrow. At least it's not international this time.

I had one being sent to me a few weeks ago. Checked the tracking site on Tuesday morning and it was in Texas with an expected delivery date of Friday...
It showed up that day (the Tuesday it was in Texas) around 3PM in the afternoon...

Jon, they'd certainly be disappointed with this package. It's a tiny lathe part that I doubt very many would recognize by itself. It's unique to a metal lathe, so even most wood turners wouldn't recognize it.

No one that I know believes that working for the USPS makes you able to read and write, especially if you didn't go to school in the USA. Relating to what I've seen, many of those double- and triple-dippers are well into dementia!

Tracking says it finally made it, though I haven't heard from the recipient yet. I mailed of other first class package to Arizona the same day. That took 2 days to go across the country. This package took 6 days to go 8 hours away.

I really got irritated with USPS at Christmas. Apparently Flat Rate automatically includes tracking (I did use the USPS web and prepaid for shipping, and printed the labels myself.) But I sent a small padded envelope, since it was the cheapest way to send. The clerk asked if I wanted tracking, and I said "Sure". I didn't realize until she totaled it and it added about $2.00 to the total. I just let it go. Sadly, it didn't even generate automatic tracking emails to me, like on the Flat Rate shipments ...
I really ought to check out UPS next year, but the Flat Rate service is pretty good for most things we ship.

Considering the volume of packages and pieces of mail the USPS handles every day, their error rate is way below 1%... understanding that if you do get caught in that >1%, doesn't make for a good impression on your part, nor does it help your situation... since I was in the traffic and transportation industry for over 40 years, I do understand how things work in all modes of transportation... doesn't help me either if things don't work though.
