Hi,

A spalted hackberry one this time, spalting is in odd round zones. The last hackberry I had was much more linear in its spalting!
The never ending oddities that turn up when using natural products.

Very nice pen, and I agree. Spalted hackberry in particular seems to yield some fantastic designs and very nice pens. Some of my favorite wood! I gave a pen to my BIL that looked so much like a very old nautical map (he's a navy guy). Very cool.

Hackberry always seems to give a much wider variety in spalting, than the normally linear beech or maple
