Okay so not so new really. '84 Chevy Suburban 1500, standard rust issues for a truck it's age, but all the power options work including the A.C and the 350 is running strong. Current owner says it has 117k miles and being a Sheriff I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Also the drivers seat is in too good of shape for it to be too much more than that. I pick her up this weekend.

She is a 4x4 too. I won't buy anything else with the winters we can get here (might not need it every year, but sometimes we do).

I'll be happy if it gets 15mpg, but I'm expecting about 10 until proven otherwise. But I can afford to fill the tank given that I don't have a car payment.

oh and I'm the 4th owner in 28 years.

I like it being a Chevy man. I have a 92 Ford F-250 with a gas guzzling 460 and I do not get that good of gas mileage. I am hoping to sell it soon and get a 92 Chevy 1/2 ton. Good luck with your new toy.

Two months after I bought my F-250 with a 7.3 liter deisel in it...the price of deisel fuel started looking for a way to the top. I'll tell you...if it wasn't for bad luck...I wouldn't have any luck.

Drove her home today. I think the speedo is a little off, but I was going with the flow of traffic (70mph speed limit) and she was never hunting for power. I put $50 in the tank before leaving Frederick which ran her up just over 3/4s of a tank, got home with it showing just under 3/4s. 46 miles give or take. I'll have to figure out what the mpg is at some point.

Definitely needs to have the AC worked on. She'll go to the shop on Tuesday and have that looked at and inspection done. Then registered and tagged before the weekend. Got the service records back to 2000. Had over $2k in preventive maintenance done last year (I paid less than the service bill for the truck)

And nope, Leo (the dog in the pic) was not part of the deal, though he kept looking at us like "where we going??? Open the door and let's go!!!" as we were pulling her out. Lillian would have took him though, he's a good one.

Seeing how it's as old as it is, it won't have a fuel injection system. So I am very curious as to what the actual mpg will be, some of these old jewels are notoriously bad on gas.

First Mileage test, 278 mixed miles. 24.33 gallons = 11.426 mpg

Better than I was hoping (10mpg), so I'm happy.

Now if I rebuild the carb or swap it to a throttle body injector system. Or swap out to an HEI system. I might get that up to about 15mpg which would be great for something this big.
