I just noticed that Amazon lowered their price on the Jet wet sharpener again. List price is $299.99 and that is what I have seen it selling for most of the time.

It has been $269.99 for a while on Amazon but they just lowered it to $239.99. Not sure about shipping costs. If you belong to Amazon Prime you can get it two day air for free or overnight for $3.99. Since I belong to Amazon Prime I don't see the normal shipping info.

I saw some talk a couple of weeks ago about whether you can get good deals at trade shows. Well, I went to the Woodworking trade show here in Southern California last weekend and there were some good deals. This grinder was $249.99 plus tax.

I jsut read some reviews at Amazon and are pretty bad. Based on those I would not touch it. But I have no clue since I never use one.

I'm not trying to sell anyone on the jet sharpener. Just providing usefull information as I find it. I'm trying to figure out which one to buy myself. Any comments would be appreciated.

Just for reference, here is the best comparison between the Tormek and the Jet sharpeners that I have found so far.

I have the Tormek. I've heard that the jigs are not as good for the Jet. You might be able to use the Tormek jigs on the Jet.

With the quality that Jet has on most everything else, if they can't measure up now, I'm sure they will soon.

I have had the Jet for a while and I would buy it again tomorrow. It is STRICKLY for woodworkers, for anyone else it is a waste of time. As far as reviews, I have no idea what they are reviewing , but every magazine write up said the same thing, it IS a tormek for 100 bucks less. Some of the Jet jigs are great some are not so great. The Tormek jigs fit it and if you want to spend the price on them, they are fine. The only negative I can find is that the wheel wears faster than a tormek but, when it is gone, you can put a Jet or Tormek on it.
