I just got most of the supplies for a large pen order. I am making 75 PSI Big Ben Cigar pens out of Bethlehem Olive Wood. A local business owner, whom I go to Church with made this order.

Time to get going on a lot of repetition...

A HUGE shout out and thanks go to Ed and Dawn at Exotic Blanks for coming through with everything I needed to get this going!! They are always ready to help us out!!

WOW ... that is a huge order of pens to make!! I have about 24 to make for Christmas gifts, and I thought that was a lot!

Love the look of those blanks - they are beautiful!!

Quick question - what will you use to finish the wood? CA, friction polish, something else? I have been having some great success with using Tru-Oil as a friction polish. The heat is allowing me to lay down 4 light coats in about 15 minutes and move right into assembly.

You need to post a photo of them all lined up when they are completed. Maybe two photos:
  1. All your supplies laid out in the raw
  2. All the finished pens lined up
:)

Kind regards,
Chris

Wowzers. How do you go about securing such a deal with a business owner?

Yes that is a large order and 2 blanks for each pen. That is also a large pen. The wood is a great joice. It always makes a great looking pen. Just do them as an assembly line set up and you will get them done. Good luck and some said post some photos. Have fun.

One blank per pen, with about 1/2" leftover. I am doing sort of assembly line. cut them all, drilled them all, plugged the tubes, glued 20 pens worth as that is all I have right now. Waiting on back order of kits. turned and finished each pen part separately. Then buffed them all and assembled them. Works pretty well and I think the first 50 will be easy, then the remaining 25 will be a bit of a grind....

I meant to say 2 tubes so basically 2 blanks but understand what you mean. They are reallly looking good. I like the kit choice. Olive wood is still some of the preetiest wood for a pen. Good luck. You got this.
