Good luck! There's a whole process behind it, try running it through his MilAid for the hand off. DAMHIK

I can imagine that there would be concern from the Secret Service (at least I HOPE there would be concern!!)

But, it's a nice thought!!

Probably not a good idea to take a bullet pen. Have fun. It is a process and experience you will not forget. I got to see Clinton on one of the few instances outside Washington when the President and Vice President were on the same stage in chairs right next to each other. Security was insane.

i might not agree with obama on many things but he still is the president. Wouldnt it be cool if he wanted the pen and later on you saw pictures of him using it. NOW THAT WOULD BE ADVERTISING

Regardless of what you feel about ANY President, the opportunity to meet one is rare and a big deal. The excitement has to be a blast and I hope that it fulfills your expectations Bob.

Side note - Back in the early 90s we were staying at the same hotel as Bush Sr. while we were doing an antique show. He was on the floor above us and the security was unreal. This was pre 9/11 so I could only imagine what it would be like today.

Did you ever see the ceremony when he signs a bill into law? One pen for each letter of his name. Wouldn't that be a nice little account to land?

Reminder - Discussion of politics is not allowed or we will have to shut down the thread.

I thought things were going well.

About the signing thing. Saw an interview with the lady who gets these ready for the white house. Obviously it is not her only job, but it was nuts. they kept adding people to the list and she must have counted the number of pens at least ten times during the interview. SHe had a big ol smile but looked exhausted by the end of the bill signing.

My understanding is the President is not allowed to accept gifts, when he gets one from people in the mail they are logged and put away, where I do not know...........

That's partially true. They are allowed to accept them, but due to security and volume they likely never see many of them. There is rules around gifts and value, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible for the OP to get a pen to him, but it is unlikely.

In case this happens, as OUR representative (and lobbyist), just what do we as pen turners demand added to the platform?:biggrin:

Best of Luck and enjoy the experience!
