I was diagnosed with Celiac disease about 6 years ago. I have been gluten free since and the positive changes in my health have been fantastic. I am just wondering if there are others who are gluten free and if that has made a significant change in your health, not just because of Celiac's, but also gluten intolerance or sensitivity.

Hey Herb,
Right here! Sensitivity to wheat and gluten per blood test. The eating is frustrating at times, especially for lunch away from home and traveling. Thankfully chikfilet has grilled nuggets!

I have had headaches for many years and after cutting out soft drinks and gluten I have reduced the amount of headaches by about 80-90%. With a 2 and 4 year old that's been wonderful for them and me.

I only wish I had found out years ago. I'd gotten cat scans, chiropractic help, ENT visits and environmental allergy testing done prior. A lot of $ and years could've been saved.

I have a gluten sensitivity that began in earnest this year. Took over 6 months to figure out that gluten is playing a significant part in my symptoms, which were written off as functional dyspepsia. I'm just beginning to explore the gluten free options available to me. It's a lot more than I'd envisioned since I never really paid attention to "gluten free" before.

My wife and I went gluten free when we started CrossFit. No allergy/sensitivity, just a diet choice. We still eat some gluten containing foods every now and then, but we did notice a difference in the way we felt when we cut down the gluten containing foods. It could be because we now try to workout 6 days a week, or healthier food choices overall, but we don't have any reason to go back since it is working for us.

I was diagnosed, June 2007. Blood test did not show Celiac, and elected not to get the biopsy. I'm also hypothyroid. At one time I could barely function, the fatigue was horrible. I found an Integrative Care physician. She did the gluten testing, and started me on a natural thyroid, I now take Acella NP. I was on disability from work for 6 months back then. I can still have gut issues. I also am cow dairy free, corn free, almond free. The almond allergy just showed up, broke out in a huge rash about a month ago. I hardly ever eat at a restaurant, but they are getting better with special menus. How well the cooks do is another issue. Shopping at the grocery store has gotten way easier since I started the restrictions 7 years ago. Now all you need is a bucket of money to pay for the nice selection. My favorite is Hodson Mill GF bread mix. We make it in the bread machine, it's great! The fatigue issue is basically gone, but now at 62, I find I can't run the chainsaw as long as I once did. My daughter seems to be the same as I am, hate that I passed this on.

Five years ago my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac through a biopsy, Since she has been "Gluten Free" her stomach pains have pretty much disappeared and her migraines have greatly diminished. She can tell within 1/2 hour if she has been "Gluttened"
The amount Products available at the retail level have increased as well as manufactures trying to highlight their product , which may have always been gluten free.
Working out is important always but with gluten free breads using rice and potato flour, the carbs may increase inches on your waist if you're not careful.
Traveling or even just going out to eat can be a total Crap Shoot. The establishment may highlight their gluten free items on the menu, but you are at the mercy of Any and All of the Food Handlers. My advice when traveling or going out,
Speak to the Manager. It may be a PIA but you are more likely to have the special attention given to your food that you require. One
Mistake can Ruin a pleasant trip.

I don't remember the source, but one of my favorite quotes when people think being gluten free is such a major issue is : "Nothing tastes as good as feeling good feels."
