If you find yourself turning pens and having a few blowouts, look closely at the area that came apart and see where the glue adhered and where it did not. You will be surprised at how much space between the tube and blank does not have glue adherence.
For this reason, some use Epoxy, but epoxy does similar to CA in having gaps inside. For a great adhesion, polyurethane glues do best, but they have to be treated differently. The tubes should be taped in, or the expanding polyurethane glue will push the tube out as it expands. Poly glue takes 6 to 12 hours, I think but I usually do it over night.
Using medium and even thick CA is fine in most cases. 10 to 30 minutes usually worked good for me.
