Went to an auction Friday evening and spent $36 on this:
The bottom two pieces are 8" Paudauk platter blanks. The 2 x 12" square spindle blank just to their right is Tambootie and in the upper right hand corner is a 5" sq burl, but I don't know what kind. You may also have noticed the 5" sq multicolored laminated bowl blank. I also got this:
This has a number of pen blank sized exotic sticks in it, lacewood, etc. It also has flatstock pieces of purpleheart, something that looks like coc, and one labeled Mayan B???wood. And a 2/5 x 12" tulipwood spindle. And I got this:
That's mostly 2" or better sq turning stock and the splated Maple is stabilized. And this:
The important pieces here are the big pieces of Bubinga and Gabon Ebony. There were two interesting segmented glue ups in this box. One about the size of pen blanks, but about 16" long and the other is this one:
Sorry for the lowsy photo. It's not quite square, but I'm still thinking of doing a bowl with it. Last, but not least, I got these:
Needless to say, I was pretty
