Was not goin to do the gloat thing but since a lot of people want to show off their new tools decided to post a couple of mine. My wife talked me into buying a drill press(heard enough of me talking about ruining blanks drilling by hand in my table vise by eyeball)and when I found this craftsman 12" drill press on sale from 199 to 169 with laser center, 3.3" quill travel, digital depth readout I couldnt resist. This was for Christmas.

Well about 3 weeks ago was complaining(notice how that works sometimes? ) about having to go over to my freinds house again to use his bandsaw to resaw some wood. The loml says why dont you just get one for yourself?. At this point i took off before she could change her mind and bought the 14" Ridgid at Home Depot I had been eyeballing for $360 with a three year warranty. Now i have to buy her a dust collector for the shop to keep all this dust off of her treadmill.:D

That's two good gloats. I think she deserves more than a dust extractor. Take her out to dinner, she will be thrilled. Or buy her a bunch of flowers.:D

That's three gloats, if we count the dust collector.:) Good "work," Hugo. By the way, I noticed in your first picture that your drill press is sharing a lamp with your lathe. While you got the wife in a good mood, you might want to see about getting the drill press its own light source before you wear out the lamp's neck. And, the band saw might want a lamp, too.

Mike with all the good stuff on the drill press i have to admit the press has its own light too. But it is a small led and virtually useless. The bandsaw does have its own light but it is in the house where i was trying to use it to improve my pic taking.

I have this bandsaw excellent

On the Craftsman drill press check for runout on the quill. Do it on slow speed and then high speed. Good luck with your new toys.

Lee for being HF it seems very well made.Very sturdy and the gears work well. there is a small amount of free play when you reverse the turn from forward to back or side to side but it is only the handle taking up slack not in the slide mechanism itself. I would buy another one tommorrow with no regrets. Only had it about 3 months but have used it a lot.
