Fun little request for glass enamel tie clips from a sharp dresser who wishes to keep his ties out of his soup.
He also requested matching cuff links; steps:
Shapes cut from copper sheet, discs domed on a steel dapping block, cleaned with acetone.
Clear Thompson glass enamel fired onto the faces in a clam shell kiln at 1535 degrees (F) x 1.5 minutes, while viewed through the top window (I wear welders goggles).
Underglaze painted with Coyote underglazes.
Then 4 sequential firings of colored Thompson glass enamel.
Cooled.
Backs abraded with carbide burs, cleaned with acetone.
Clip findings torch-soldered onto the back with low-melt solder.
Matching cuff links similarly made:
Wish I could find copper pen tubes to do some cloisonne pens...
Happy Tuesday - Bob
