Gift to Grand Theft

I tried to give away a tripod that I had no use for, for the shipping cost. Jon "GoodTurns" was the first to reply so it was sent right out to him. In no time he sent me a pm asking if I wanted the check or to be surprised. Being the adventurer type, I responded with "Hey surprise me". Now here I sit with treasure beyond believe instead of a $7.50 check. I have been so overpaid that it is like being involved in a grand theft. He even included a piece of wood from an old home that was built in 1722. There is no way I could ever put a tool to a piece of history such as that. I know, no photo, did not happen, so here are some picts to prove my story. You be the judge, all I asked for was postage, now here I am becoming a thief. WOW, let me gloat some more. I need to go out and buy some more tripods if they return goodies like these!

Jon is one of those "old school" IAP people . . . he just believes that anytime he enters a deal of any sort . . . that the other person should get the long end of the stick. I can't say enough good things about him.
IAP needs more people like him.

I do not mind winning, but that was way, WAY too much. Jon, I wanted to send you a pm of thanks, but decided to brag a whole bunch. Thank you again. All except the Chestnut will be put to good use, the Chestnut, on the other hand, well It has to have a frame built. It will have a place of honor in the shop.

Nice deal. Don't be afraid to turn that chestnut wood. I have several pieces of it. It is best to turn it and use a very, very sharp tool and also use thin CA to stabilize as you go along. I have made several pens and a pencil from it and they look very nice. The history factor has made them sell quite quickly. I bought my blanks several years ago and the wood is quite dry, but very turnable.
