geocaching pen trade?

Just curious, anyone ever thought about doing a geocaching pen trade. Instead of having coins or other objects that people take and leave, have a handfull of pens? It would be similar to doing a blank trade, but instead of mailing the box to people, the people would come to the box! Yes, this would only work among pen turners and probably only local ones...
I've never actually done any geocaching, but have been reading online about it. My interest has been piqued. And something like this might just give me a reason to start!

I had thought about it, but even with a water tight container, some hiding areas are subject to high humidity and temperatures. I'd think the pen would need to be discovered and traded rather quickly.

We dabble at geocaching - more in the spring and fall. I try to avoid summer snake activity when roaming around the woods with my kids. We do it as a past-time when camping, or just looking for a day out. I do have a handheld GPS that we normally use, but I bit the bullet last year and forked out for the iPhone app -- cheaper than a handheld if you want to try it, and it will get you close enough to start searching. A fun way to spend time with the kids!

If you know someone with a GPS, try it. Or use the app if you have a smartphone. It's at least worth trying, and cheaper than a movie!
