I recall once someone here mentioning the use of a product called "gel promoter" or something, for PR, to help it thicken up quicker and moreso than usual---- this is to help keep colors from bleeding together when pouring into molds.

I've googled it and can't find anything.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Matt
Yes there is a "Gel Promoter" and it works great .
It only takes a drop or two per oz , and causes the PR to gel in 1 to 3 mins.
I'm not in my shop right now so I dont have the link , I will post it later

I would say yes. The gel promoter causes polyester resin to gel quickly so suspended coloring agents don't settle out and multi-color mixes such as swirls don't run toghther and become one color. The resin does not cure faster, it just gels qicker. AT least, that has been my experience with it.
Do a good turn daily!

I have an order on the way:D.

Question: when using gel promoter and you are trying to get two colors to swirl together but NOT intermix, should you pour the two colors together *before* or *after* the resin begins to gel?

Ie, does the gel promoter cause it to gel too stiff and/or too quick for pouring together?

In the same vein, I did some 5 color pours tonight and invariably it seems that one of the colors will set up or gel before I can get the other colors poured. You wait for the resin to begin to gel and in the flury of action one of the colors gells up quick and you don't get an even color mix. I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE GELL PROMOTOR. I was going to order some, but found out that there is a local business that might have the stuff so I guess I'll wait 'til tomorrow or Monday.
